Facial/Cosmetic Acupuncture
Facial acupuncture is a natural and holistic anti-ageing treatment that aims to reduce the signs of ageing such as fine lines and wrinkles, lack-lustre complexion, and dry or sagging skin.
Although relatively new in the West, it has been used by the Chinese for centuries. They believe that natural beauty comes from good health and a balanced energy. Facial acupuncture, therefore, not only aims to target the signs of ageing by working on fine lines and wrinkles, but also to address any underlying health issues such as insomnia or stress - after all, our state of health is reflected on our face.
Using hair-fine needles, simple cosmetic acupuncture techniques are used to work against the effects of ageing, along with general acupuncture points to balance the whole body. Once the needles are in place you can lie back and relax.
A course of facial acupuncture is recommended (6-10 treatments depending on age and lifestyle factors). Often positive results can be seen after just one or two treatments, however, it may take up to six treatments for more noticeable and lasting effects to hold. Maintenance treatments once a month will help to prolong the results.
A study published in the International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture in 1996 stated that 90% of 300 people who had received facial acupuncture demonstrated marked results after their first treatment.
