Many of us lead hectic lifestyles and it is thought that ongoing stress lies at the root of many conditions such as headaches, anxiety, insomnia, depression, IBS etc. Reflexology is a safe and natural therapy that can help counter stress and improve your sense of well-being.
Reflexology Explained
Reflexology is a technique of applying a light and gentle pressure to certain reflex points on the feet. The theory relates to the principle that there are areas on the feet that correspond to every organ and system of the body. By working on these areas it is possible to detect any reflexes which could be causing blockages in the flow of energy throughout your body. These reflexes are then gently stimulated to help improve the functioning in the corresponding body part thus putting the body back into a state of balance.
It is a safe, natural and non-invasive therapy that uses a holistic approach – treating mind, body and spirit. Reflexology is suitable for all ages and is an extremely relaxing, enjoyable and accessible therapy. There may be occasional times, however, when it is not suitable to provide a treatment.
Treatments
The first treatment will take up to 75 minutes. During this time I will take a full medical history to ensure there are no contra-indications to treatment. I then carry out the reflexology treatment, which normally takes around 45 minutes, following which I will provide feedback on any reflexes found.
Follow- on treatments will take 60 minutes to allow for an initial update on how you have been feeling since the previous treatment, the treatment itself and, again, any feedback from the treatment.

What are the benefits?
Having reflexology on a regular basis can help to counteract the effects of stress by promoting a sense of deep relaxation. Usually after a treatment your tension will be reduced, you might notice yourself sleeping better and find your mood and sense of well-being improved. You may also find that other aspects of your health improve too, however, this happens on an individual basis.
Reflexology during pregnancy
Reflexology can be of great support to women during their pregnancy and can help to promote general well-being. As well as being an exciting time, pregnancy can also increase stress levels, especially as the birth becomes more imminent. Reflexology can help counter any stress by promoting relaxation. It also provides a place where you can focus purely on yourself and your growing baby.
